Potatoes, fruit and vegetables from Europe

Bjarne Johnsen AS has built up solid expertise in potatoes over more than 90 years, with daily contact with producers and connections abroad giving us first-hand information on season, quality and availability in key supply countries.

Our target market is potatoes for private consumption, in cooperation with potato packing houses now owned by the retail chains in Norway. Throughout the year we import potatoes from countries such as France, England and Denmark. New potatoes are imported from Cyprus and Spain.

For industrial potatoes, we supply Norwegian factories as needed. Our long-standing relationships with producers across Europe give us access to consistent quality and competitive pricing throughout the season.

The Fruit and Vegetables import department has been active since 1924. We have weekly refrigerated trucks arriving in Norway from across Europe. Pears and strawberries are loaded in Belgium, apples from Italy, clementines from Spain, and so on. Our customers are fruit and vegetable wholesalers.

Our extensive network of suppliers and carriers across all of Europe means we can move goods quickly. This is something our customers value highly, particularly for sensitive produce where shelf life is critical.

We work closely with producers on quality specifications and grading standards, so the goods that arrive meet the exact requirements of our customers. Our experience with European supplier networks allows us to source alternatives quickly when a primary supplier cannot deliver.
